BLACK ROCK FAMILY
How you can get involved and help out.
Black Rock is a family club that is run voluntarily and is heavily dependant on parent helpers to run successfully. Your involvement with your child’s surf club activities will only add to their Nipper experience. Children really get a buzz when their parents get involved in their activities.

OFFICIAL
Coaches train nippers in preparation for carnivals and have developed extensive knowledge of key disciplines.
Not only do we need water safety personnel to be involved with regular Thursday night training sessions we also need water safety members who are confident to assist as water safety at carnivals in a variety of conditions using either a tube or rescue board (2 hours)
Assist on a Thursday night with running the bar, including setup and packup
Assist as part of a team to pickup pre-ordered BBQ supplies, cook and serve on a Thursday evening following training and at adhoc junior sessions throughout the session.
For nippers to participate at carnivals clubs need to provide a ratio of qualified officials to assist with overseeing the carnival events
BLACK ROCK
COACHES
Become A Coach Assistant
Coach assistants can help set up the beach area with buckets of flags, assist children with their boards and help the coach as required during training. This is a really important role, as managing a large group of children can be very demanding at times.
BLACK ROCK
OFFICIALS
We need parents who are willing to do training to obtain accreditation that will allow them to become an official at competitions. We are required to supply officials according to the number of competitors we send, so more assistance is always gratefully received. If we do not have the appropriate number of officials, some of our children will be turned away.
BLACK ROCK
FUNDRAISERS
Annual Tin Shake Fundraiser
We raise most of our funds each year via the tin shake at nominated intersections. All parents are asked to give 2 hours each year of their time to participate in the Annual Tin Shake. You will be provided with a Red and Yellow Life Saving Uniform to wear for the two hours.
General Parent Participation
BLACK ROCK PARENTS
All parents are asked to assist and participate with Nippers programs by being an Age Manager/Coach, Water Safety Officer or Coaches Assistant or to assist with the BBQ, Kitchen or Bar duties.
Getting involved around the club is also a great way to meet other parents and there are plenty of jobs that need to be done. We ask as a minimum over 2 sessions that parents/carers help with any of the following activities. To volunteer, please speak to any of the above mentioned Committee or Junior Sub Committee members.
